Mind power, is one of the strongest and most useful powers you possess. This power consists of your, thoughts. The, thoughts, that pass through your, mind, are responsible for everything that happens in your life. Your predominant, thoughts, influence your behavior and attitude and control your actions and reactions.
Mind power allows you to become a co-creator of your life
You may not believe that you are the co-creator of your life because whatever you think about, you bring about. That is the amazing, power of your mind.
One of the ways of unlocking our, mind power, is understanding how our, subconscious mind, works. Whether we’re looking to be creative or successful in areas of our lives, we’re going to need the, power of your subconscious mind.
The, subconscious mind, is also called the superconscious because it is your connection to source. To unlock the amazing, power of your mind, is to take your desires to the subconscious level and let your, subconscious mind, bring your desires to you. The, subconscious mind, or the universe goes out and works for you.
Let’s say you’re drawn to 10 different things at the same time your, mind, is capable of creating 10 different channels and keep them running all at the same time creating a complex mathematical problem. That is how complex human mind is. This complexity you can use either to drive yourself crazy with unbridled thought and emotion. Or if you harness it, it can do things that nobody has imagined possible. It can do things in a miraculous way. You can manifest things in a phenomenal way by tapping into the, subconscious mind.
To Access mind power you got to read the manual
Most human beings the problem is we have this super computer, the most sophisticated machine on this planet and we have never read the user’s manual. Sadhguru says some people to want to read the user manual of the mind on their last day, what’s the point? If you buy a phone, should you read the user’s manual in the first three days not after three years when you want to get rid of the phone?
Should you not understand the, power of the mind, and the super computer that is your, brain power? Should we not understand what is the nature of our mind, what is the full potential of it and explore this?
Unlocking your, mind power, is a matter of working with your, subconscious mind. It’s becoming a co-creator in your life and living a life by design and not by chance. Tap into the amazing power of your, mind, by giving your, subconscious mind, a purpose to work on for you.
When you combine your, conscious mind, with your, subconscious mind, you’ll be able to tap into your, mind power, and create what it is you desire. Whether that’s being more creative or a path to success, you can create anything with your, mind power.
Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of 5 min Fridays with coach Myrna. Until next time Namaste
Spiritual psychology, is a lens that we look through that teaches us everything that’s happening in our life, is happening for us. That all of our challenges are beautifully designed opportunities, or I should say beautifully disguised opportunities giving us the steppingstones, we need to grow and evolve and transform. It is a, personal transformation, tool that helps us into our next level of protection to really fulfill our intelligence, which is the fullest realized expression of who we come here to be in this life.
Donna: Spiritual psychology, is really a technology that was innovated and pioneered by doctors Ron and Mary Holman at the University of Santa Monica. Spiritual psychology, is a lens that we look through that teaches us everything that’s happening in our life is happening for us. That all of our challenges are beautifully designed opportunities, or I should say beautifully disguised opportunities. Giving us the steppingstones, we need to grow and evolve and transform into our next level of protection to really fulfill our intelligence, which is the fullest realized expression of who we come here to be in this life.
And that’s what it is. It’s a perspective, right? It is a way to see the world and when we start seeing the world as if everything that’s happening is really this beautifully designed opportunity for us to grow and learn and change and evolve. And we start seeing the world from an empowered place, rather than seeing the world from a place of feeling victimized by life circumstances and life’s happenstance of life’s craziness.
Myrna: That is actually quite good. And I would get as you’re talking, I’m imagining myself in a coaching session, and you’re talking to someone, and they are saying Oh, my life has been very bad, and all these different things happened to me. And then you can turn that around and say, you know what, what did this teach you? What do you think that this revealed to you? What strengths did you bring out of that? That is a, spiritual psychology, session.
I am actually loving it. Now you guys are calling it a different name. But the Bible teaches that everything happens for your good. Actually, it’s one of the scripture verses that I that I adhere to, and it’s one of my foundation scriptures is that yes, everything happens for your good. So now that I’ve opened that door, so how do you use, spiritual psychology, as a, transformation tool, in your coaching sessions?

Heart centered listening is one of the principles of spiritual psychology
Donna: Well, there are 33 principles and practices of, spiritual psychology. And so, I use each of these principles and practices to support the client in doing their life from a different place. And you know, two of our foundational skills the University of Santa Monica has entitled the skill, heart centered listening, and I call it, heart centered listening. The original name for seeing the loving essence I have renamed to big acknowledgement. A big acknowledgement is the recognition that you and I are, spiritual beings, on this epic human adventure. And when I recognize you also as a, spiritual being, having this public human adventure, then there’s something about that that makes us the same.
And when we begin to recognize that for every single person on the planet, then we can really recognize that we really are all one and we’re all in this together. We’re all facing the same challenges and the same trials and the same opportunities. You know, we all are in club human together, having this human experience.
Heart centered listening, is really about it’s about what you do all day in your in your job Myrna with these podcasts that you do and like deeply listening to another person giving them the space to share from a center heart opened place where they are free to explore their own consciousness. And download from the infinite universe kind of trickle into the conversation. And when we invite that, infinite intelligence, into the conversation, who knows what’s going to happen? That is why we call it, spiritual psychology.
Myrna: I love it. Yes, yes. You’re talking my language girl. Yeah, I you know, we are all love. I love Deepak Chopra. And you know, Deepak Chopra always says that we are all, spiritual beings, having a, human experience, manifesting through a, central nervous system. So, each one of us is manifesting, through our individual, human nervous system. But eventually we’re all we’re all connected.
One of the one of the things that he says, and I was even meditating on this morning, is that we’re all like a wave in the ocean. We’re all part of the ocean and each one of us is a wave. And so, what you are saying is beautiful. And you are correct when you recognize that we’re all one, and we’re all spirit and we’re all connected, that changes your perception on your struggles. Is that what you are calling, spiritual psychology?

Spiritual psychology is the gateway to acceptance of our humaneness
Donna: Well, yes, it’s one way that you can go with it. And, you know, the longer I’m on this spiritual path, the more I realized it’s really about loving my humaneness. And I think a big gateway to, transformation, and how I work with my clients is really inviting them into a deeper level of reverence for their, human experience, a deeper level of acceptance for the human. A deeper level of acceptance for ourselves, you know, for how we fall short of our own aspirations in life, and how we relate to ourselves, when we’re going through something difficult.
That’s really where we have an opportunity to have a different experience in our life. I love what you were sharing about Deepak Chopra. And one of the things that the way that I like to say it is we are all unique, individualized expressions of, the Divine. And no two of us are the same, right? Every single one of us is this gorgeous depiction of, the Divine. And how magnificent is that? And it’s quite a miracle.
And it’s quite miraculous, but we overlook it on a regular basis. And so, I helped people slow down and tune in so that they can begin to recognize their power, the real power, the power that comes from inside of us, not the power that we think that we get from our job or for money or from a status position or anything like that. Helping people to recognize that they have this inherent power within them. And that power is a source of our aliveness. That is that power is the source of our expression out in the world as a drop in, the Divine.
Myrna: Very true. It’s actually very powerful. Very powerful, because, you know, one of the reasons that I concentrate so heavily on the, mind, is because that’s where it starts. It’s how you think is your thoughts is your thought process. And, yeah, once you recognize that, that you’re limitless, that you’re powerful, that you actually shape your destiny and that is all part of, spiritual psychology.
It doesn’t just happen, you’re shaping it by your thoughts and if you feel empowered, or if you feel a victim, you know, that’s basically my story as well. Yeah, you got to realize, you have power and instead of being stuck, you have the power to change your life, if it’s going in one direction, just like you did. You figure that yeah; I am just on a treadmill. And what did you do? You did something about it, right? You didn’t stay there and wait until you’re 65 and then say, you know, my life has been terrible.

Reclaiming our authentic power
Now, one of the other things that we were talking about is how can we use consciousness to reclaim our, authentic power.
Donna: We have to become present, be in the, present moment, Myrna? We’re all so caught up in the future with the two dues right? We got to go here. We got to do this. We got to do that. And our mind, you know, our attention and our energy go into the future. Or we’re stuck in the past, right? We’re obsessing about I should have said this, or I should have done that. And we’re caught up in yesterday and what really is over that we can’t even change. But when we can be here in this, present moment, right now, and place our energy and our intention on person, the situation whatever is right in front of us. Then we are tapping into our, consciousness, in the highest way that we can at the time.
Myrna: Right. Yeah, that’s pretty good. Yes, because yes, consciousness, is definitely being present and nothing happens outside of the, present moment. A lot of people are always in the past or the future. But change only happens in the, present moment. So, that’s pretty good. All right. Now one of the things that you do in your in your work, is you talk about the, power of the I AM. So, talk to us about how you help your clients to using, I AM, to pivot for to help with their, transformation.
Donna: Thank you so much for asking this question. I see this as one of the most powerful tools that we all have in our toolbox. And it’s the two little, teeny tiny words, I AM, because when we say those words, we are making a declaration. We are making a proclamation to the universe. And so, I invite your listeners to just pay attention. What comes attached to these two little words in your life? Are you walking around saying, I am, tired? I am, exhausted. I am, sick. I AM, whatever. Because the back story that we’re telling, then those are the results that we are creating.

And so, I see this as literally like using a magic wand. We are instantaneously reaffirming what we do want to experience, what we do want to occur. So, we can put our attention, our focus on that immediately and begin to say things like,
I AM, doing the best that I can in the moment.
I am, moving towards radiant health and wellbeing.
I am, vitality.
I am perfect, just the way God made me.
I am, accepting all of myself, no matter what society says about you.
So, it’s really a powerful way to change our current reality. And I talk extensively about this. I have a whole chapter called, I AM, or it’s called the responsibility of, I am, in my book “Original Wisdom: Harnessing the Power of the Authentic You.”
My book really talks about my journey and how I left the corporate arena, and Myrna it wasn’t a straight path. I gotta tell you, it wasn’t hiding guidance. I didn’t wake up one morning and said, I’m going to be a coach. It didn’t happen like that. And as a matter of fact, if you could have told me that I was going to be in these sacred, intimate, loving, connected one on one conversations with people I would have said oh, hell no, that’s never gonna happen. Because the time that my journey began, the, mindset, that I had, was completely different than the, mindset, that I have now.

Mindset and personal development
Myrna: I know, we’re in the, personal improvement, and, personal development, space, and we grow along with people that we teach. I am listening and learning something every single day so we’re growing in that space. And for me, because I get to speak to excellent guests like yourself, I’m learning, It’s like a school for me. I’m learning from all my guests. And yeah, your, mindset, keeps shifting.
But I want to touch back on that, I am, statement because one of the things that I love saying is, I am the universe, and that’s basically what you were talking about. Earlier, when you said that we are, spiritual beings, right. And we’re part of the Infinite is the fact that, I’m the universe, right? The universe is inside of me. So now you coach, and you have your master’s degree. So why did you write the book and what is it that you want the readers to walk away with, after they put it down?
Donna: The truth is, I was really creating a workshop. I was putting together teaching points. And as I was going through these teaching points, I thought to myself, oh, I have a story for that. You know, I really want to illustrate that in a more visual way, in a way that people can remember or walk away with. And so, as I started compiling all of my stories, I kind of took a step back and I was like, that’s my story. It’s like my whole story. And after a little bit of rearranging, I unfolded, really this path and I don’t tell the story in a chronological way, because of the way in which, I AM, pulled each of the concepts.
Original Wisdom: Harness the power of the authentic you
I deliver a dovetail experience to it so that each of them builds on their previous one. And really, what I want people to walk away with is a sense of that, authentic empowerment, a sense that they are so much more, we are so much more than what we have been taught. And original wisdom is an inherent intelligence in all beings, that is rooted in unconditional love.
And when I think about, our spirit or soul, the energy of that is unconditional love. So, the intention of my book is to help people remember what their needs are. They are made of love. And we just have stuff that stands in the way of that. And that’s really what I help my clients do is remove those blocks, so that they can remember the truth of who they are.
Myrna: I love it. Where can we get a copy of your book and tell us about your website and tell us you know, you’re a coach and you do offer personal transformation coaching. So, tell us tell our listeners how they can get in touch with you.
Donna: All of the information can be found on www.Donnabond.com. And my book, of course, is on Amazon and all of the major book retailers out there “Original Wisdom: Harness the Power of the Authentic You.” And periodically I have a masterclass that I offer called empower the authentic you where I teach live, the concepts that I offer in original wisdom.

Myrna: Tell us about how you became a certified mindful mindset coach, or why you became a certified mindset coach.
Tracy: For me I went through a lot of triumph in life, right as all of us have. And I was consistently met with this calling that I’m here to do something deeper. I’m here to work with people on a more transformational level. I was born for impact and positive influence to make a beautiful dent in the progress of our world.
And in order to do that, it really comes down to each one of us doing the work of ourselves on ourselves, to make the ripple effect that actually creates change for the world. And energetic frequency for our generations, our children’s children, all of those beautiful things. So, it was a calling for me to step up into what my capacity was. Yet I wasn’t scratching the surface, because I was living beneath my worth. I’m not enough and I’m not smart enough which we all have in this world.
Myrna: Not being enough always shows up.

Emotional Suppression comes from feeling not enough
Tracy: It is impossible to be a living, breathing adult and not have an enoughness wound somewhere. Unless you worked on it already, because the nature of the way our psyche works and how we know things happen in our upbringing. And the way we ingest things and make it mean something when we’re little, we always make it mean something about us, and then we carry that story in that belief structure. When we get older and something happens, usually catalytic, we’re hoping that we don’t get smacked over the head by a circumstance.
So, all of those things are really why I showed up to do what I do in the world. And you know, I was a single mother with an eight-month-old daughter. That was my first wake up call that called me to show up differently by letting go of the victim hood that I was living in powerlessness. I was subscribing into creating a whole new version of myself and a life for my daughter who is now 18 years old so that’s gives you some frame of reference.
And then I was called to climb the corporate ladder and landed as a Vice President of Human Resources and still was like, I’m not happy. I did all the things. Why am I not happy? Here I am like, I’ve got a six figure job, working from home. Isn’t that supposed to be joyful? And it wasn’t. So, I answered that deeper calling and went back to school an adult learner at 39 years old, and launched the Lift Factor and we’re in our fifth year. So yes, I’m about to be 45 this year.
Myrna: Wow! I’m sure you’ve heard it before. You look great.
Tracy: Teenage daughters, they keep me very young.
CBD isn’t about what you feel. It’s about what you don’t feel – stress, anxiety, pain…
I started using CBD gummies to help me sleep better at night and also help with arthritis pain. The gummies did not really work but as soon as I started using Feels CBD oil I fell asleep immediately and had better quality sleep plus my aches and pains went away.
Feals is a premium CBD that is delivered directly to your door.
CBD naturally helps reduce stress, anxiety, pain, and sleeplessness. There’s no hangover or addiction.
Place a few drops of Feals under your tongue and feel the difference within minutes. The thing to remember about CBD is that finding your right dose is important, that’s why the CBD gummies did not do anything for me. Feels comes in 20, 30, and 60 mg doses. Choose the one that works for you.
If you need a dose of chill on-the-go, pop one of Feels’ NEW CBD infused mints for a clear-headed feeling, calm anxiety (and bonus: Fresh breath).
Joining the Feals monthly membership makes your self-care easy. You’ll save money on every order and you can pause or cancel any time.
Myrna: That’s great. You know, it’s interesting that is a story that we hear so often, that people are successful. They’ve got the house; they’ve got the job, they’ve got the cars, they’ve got the white picket fence, and yet they’re still seeking. They’re still seeking that happiness.
Tracy: So, here’s what’s going on with that Myrna. We were all raised in a conditional happiness model. Okay, which I’ll break down for us. We were all raised that the outside dictates the inside. belief structure, which then reports how we all show up. So it’s very much I’ll be happy when I have a million dollar business. I’ll be happy when I find love in my life. I’ll be happy when or I’ll be sexy when I lose 10 pounds, right?
So what part of the call to work on ourselves and really recognize that as our core purpose is to completely shift out of these paradigms that we’ve been subscribing to all of this time and realize, oh, wait a minute. The reason why I could chase the carrot, get the carrot and chase the next carrot. Get the next pair to chase the next carrot, get the next until you die and still might actually feel joy in your body and your soul because joy and happiness is an inside job.
It’s about recognizing where you are holding on to when I’ll feel happy. And do the reverse of that and start to cultivate and get your body familiar with that emotion of joy and happiness. Not because something cool just happened outside of you; but because that is the state of being that you choose.
Myrna: Yeah, when we do visualization work, they tell you to feel the joy of having something that you want before you actually have it. But I’m sure that’s not what you’re talking about. We’re talking about finding ourselves, loving yourself and finding happiness right now. With your current body, with your current job, with your current circumstances.
One of the best things you can do to improve your health is get at least 7 hours of quality sleep every night. I know, it’s hard to get that much sleep. But listen, it’s super important. Because your body heals itself when you sleep. And if you’re not getting enough quality sleep, you’re increasing your risk of disease and make it harder to lose weight!
Would you like to know an easy way to get more quality sleep every night? Make sure you’re getting enough MAGNESIUM. Believe it or not, around 75% of people don’t have enough of it. Which helps explain why so many people have sleep problems.
Unfortunately, most magnesium supplements are not full spectrum. So, they won’t fix your magnesium deficiency or help you sleep better. There are actually 7 unique forms of magnesium, and you must get ALL of them if you want to experience its calming, sleep-enhancing effects. That’s why I recommend Magnesium Breakthrough by Bi-Optimizers.
Simply take two capsules before you go to bed and you’ll be amazed by how much better you sleep.
So that when you get the things that you want, you will know what joy looks like. I like what you said about chasing the carrot. We all know as coaches, that whenever you achieve one goal, you set the next goal. Yeah, we are always chasing that carrot. So all right. So that’s great now your expertise is in you know, spirituality.
So I want to start off by asking you a question that I talk about all the time because I’ve heard it from Deepak Chopra. And I’ve heard it from a lot of the luminaries and a lot of, spirituality, leaders. And it says that we are, spiritual beings, having a human experience. So how can we embrace this, spirituality? You know, a spirit having a human experience to create our success.
Tracy: Spirituality, is the foundation of all my work. Spirituality, first be willing to lower the volume on your, skepticism, because, skepticism, is really like a sabotage tactic that your ego uses. So you can just keep disconnected and still hustle and make it hard and kind of continue to affirm who you’ve been.
So when you demote the, skepticism, let’s say that you allow yourself to believe what I’m saying to you, that you are a spiritual energetic being having a human experience because scientifically, it’s not Tracy’s ideas on life, scientifically, we are all, energy.
Myrna: I’ve heard that so many times before, but let’s let’s do this. Just break it down.
Tracy: Right and that’s one of my superpowers, breaking down, spirituality, so it makes sense. So we are, energy, scientific fact, not a spiritual fact. So when we realize that we are spiritual energetic beings, but we’re existing in physical form as human beings, we get to leverage both parts of those truths and understand our, spirituality.

Consciousness and spirituality
In our humanness we’re feeling fear and lack and scarcity and concern about inclusion and belonging and are we good enough etc. Problems from a, consciousness, perspective. Our, higher consciousness, in the dimensions of, consciousness, and, energy, is going higher.
Myrna: Yep. Okay. So that’s great. Yes, because one of the ways I normally go with that when we’re talking about, spirituality, is you’re connecting to the source and with source, everything is possible. You become limitless, right? Do you ever teach on that one?
Tracy: 100% Because ultimately, your, highest self, operates in the highest, consciousness, available right to their dimensions of, consciousness, your, Higher Self, exists in your fifth dimension of, consciousness. Consciousness, by the conscious awareness, quantum field, all of that space. So when you are in your, highest self, and you’re trusting, you are the most open, you are the most connected to source, you’re also in your highest residence.
You’re also in your most enjoyable states of emotion. You’re not yet when you’re in worry and guilt and not enoughness and resentment and anger. You’re in your humaneness, you’re in love and radiance and trust and bliss and detachment from, spirituality.
Myrna: So that’s true. I noticed from your bio, you also talk about, quantum law. When you’re connecting with your, spirituality, and your, higher self, you’re tapping into, quantum energy, in the, quantum field. Which means that things happen immediately.

Connecting to the quantum field
Tracy: Essentially, quantum energy, quantum physics, quantum law, it all means the same thing. It is proven that everything is actually all connected all at the same time and completely available to us. When your energetic, resonance and frequency is lower, and you are in a lower level of emotional states like the ones I was saying before frustration, unworthiness, resentment, anger, overwhelm, you are not at your highest resonance, which is what allows you to connect to the, quantum field.
Myrna: So that’s just a very expanded explanation, we’re all spiritual beings having a human experience.
Tracy: Your emotional state becomes your energetic resonance. Emotional suppression, is when you consciously say Nope, I don’t want to feel that and just shut down. Emotional repression, is unconscious repression, which means you’ve been repressed, you don’t even know you’ve been repressed and that you’ve been denying yourself the opportunity to feel your emotions and feel your feelings.
What’s ultimately our biggest goal for everyone everywhere is to be the fullest expression of who you are, right? So being expressed not only means to express yourself verbally and in personality, but also to allow your emotions and your feelings to express themselves. Whether that is through beautiful crying or screaming or punching all these beautiful ways to release emotion from your body.
Emotional suppression leaves you emotionally congested
When you’re emotionally congested, you’re also very reactive. Like the anger comes faster and the resentment comes. So you’re a little like when my kids were little we used to call it being prickly. You’re unable to feel much trust and bliss that we were just talking about and your higher levels of, consciousness.
Myrna: So the question I have here for you is what makes it so hard to change and to up level.
Tracy: Well, because it’s unfamiliar, that’s the real answer. So the art of change and why does it feel so hard to change this because you actually have to become different. And when we’re in the, human growth, potential space, it’s not discussed enough that if you’re really going to become different you’re going to really have to get uncomfortable. And that is, it feels physical, an up level where you actually stretch out of your zone of familiarity into the next ring or two or three of what’s available to you.
It feels like a physical stretch. And to be able to successfully change and transform we have to have a profound understanding of our connection to our bodies and what it means to create safety in our system. Because change means different means unknown means uncertain, and your mind body goes Oh, hell no, I’m not allowing that human to do that. I’m going to keep her safe and the same done right. So to recognize what’s happening in the mind, because that’s what the mind does. It says this is unfamiliar, this is not safe.
Mind Magic drives your emotions
You must also understand that if you’re not working with the body, you’re not really working with the, mind. Also it seems counterproductive or counter intuitive to what we’re taught, but it’s the truth and even the mindset of the teacher. But I don’t do any, mindset, work without the body. Because you feel how you think, and you think how you feel. Your feelings are in your body and your thoughts are in your, mind.
So the, mind, drives feelings because that’s where our amygdala is. Our fear response gets ignited there, but it’s our body, our nervous system that keeps the score and tells all and does or doesn’t allow you to change. So once you understand that you go okay, I can learn how to create safety in my body. Now, all of a sudden, you can move outside of the zone of familiarity, you can change, because you know that where you’re going is amazing.
Myrna: So why does the body tell you that it’s unsafe?
Tracy: Because it’s different from what you have known. Your, mind and body, even though it is consciously what you desire and say you want your, mind and body, are active 24/7, 365 days per year. It’s trying to keep you the same, hell or high water at all costs. Mastering of the, mind and body, is part and parcel to your ability to, transform.
The Business of human growth
Myrna: Tell us about your company the Litt Factor
Tracy: The Litt Factor that’s my company, very excited and proud of it. My dad gave me that last name so it’s all him and it just happened to be a really cool last name. because we didn’t live. So the Litt Factor we are human growth and potential company and we specialize in working with visionary women leaders and entrepreneurs. To do the inner work necessary to become the next level versions of themselves, so that they can easily generate impact and wealth and holistic, success, and feel joy and presence along the way.
That’s what we do and, mind magic, is really our flagship framework. So it is a gorgeous container for visionary women leaders and entrepreneurs. You come in who you are, and you leave the next version of yourself in the most incredible way. It marries neuroscience, quantum law, meta-cognition, healing and, spirituality, in community. And that’s the kicker, that’s the key. You don’t grow in isolation.
You are really learning how to receive unconditional love, learning how to be rallied around, learning how to accept. Being in a sphere and a vortex of other women who are letting go of the status quo, who are breaking free of old paradigms, who are being the fullest expression of themselves. It’s like the wind beneath your wings. And it’s extraordinary.
So that’s what, mind magic, does. And it’s been so profound. It’s so proven we now have a 0% fail rate of anyone who comes to the program and does the work. We actually have a certification process as well. I certified other service providers, healers, coaches, financial experts, strategists on the, mind magic, framework, so that they can take it out in the world and affect change.
Book The Worthy Human
Myrna: Tell us your website, your social handles and also you can talk about your book. Yeah, tell us about your book. It’s a beautiful title. Worthy Human.
Tracy: Please go get the book. It is an incredible read. It is not just theory to the point of our conversation. It is both theory, story and work. So there are sections in the book called The work where you literally pause and do the work. I’ve had people simply invest in the book and transform with nothing else. So if you’re willing to show up for yourself and do the work, it’s a great place to start. And you can get that on Amazon. And if you’re an audio book kind of person, I read the audio so it’s like me loving you and yelling at you for six hours.
Myrna: I am definitely an audio person. I’ll get it myself.
Tracy: If you go to www.littfactor.com it has absolutely everything, but if you go to www.whatwouldshedo.net there is a free gift that I have. It’s a three part audio training course, all about connecting to the next level version of you and what it means to let her lead in every area of your life personally and professionally.

Myrna: How did you develop your, conscience? Can you share your personal story?
Leonard: My personal story, I guess, began when I was quite young, a little child. And it seemed that two principles guided my life at that time and true today. The first principle was always looked at life from a philosophical viewpoint. It’s just the way I saw the world immediately, philosophically. And the second principle that has directed me in practicality. I’m a practical fellow. Okay, and even a philosophy of life. Must have practical applications make life rewarding, and to take away the pain and the misery and the bondage, that are seen in the mists time in our world, the pandemic of its own.
Myrna: Okay, all right. Yeah. Were your problems solved by relying on your, conscience?
Leonard: There’s not one, problem, that cannot be solved by our, conscience. In fact, as far as I’m concerned, there are no problems. There are only situations. So, for me, even the word problem is a problem. Now, because language trigger us. Language can trigger us and they carry a heavy weight from the culture.
Change the word problem to situation
So, if we bring the word, problem, into our heart, and just feel the weight of it, I have a problem Oh, it’s very heavy. It’s very dark, and it seems to cover a creative capacity, and become intimidated. I become fearful and I worry, which even accelerates denigration of my creative capacity. So, I don’t use that word anymore. But I do I substitute a synonym, I say don’t say I have problems, I say I have a situation.
If you bring the word, situation, into your heart and just listen with your eyes, situation, is much lighter. Not that I’m not going to have to work resolving the, situation. But I’m a creative fellow, I’d like to tackle that. So, I’m much more optimistic and creative. I’m always watching words that says you have an emotional choice.
Myrna: I like your word, situation, I’ve learned to change the word, problem, to, challenges, but challenges is also still weightier than, situation.
Leonard: And so, too interesting, because problems, wherever we define that we start in the, mind. What do I mean by that? There’s conflict in our minds. There always has to be conflict outside our, mind. And that will be first and foremost in the body, but then, interpersonal relationships. So, working backwards from the, problem, which is outside of us by have a, problem, with you.
Problem, is now with you. It’s what I think about you. My mind created an eclipse of my awareness and I cannot really see you, I just see what’s in my, unconscious mind. I sift through those lenses. And so maybe I’m intimidated with you. Maybe I understand that you’re a podcast, personality and you have a following and oh my gosh, I’m intimidated by her. So, when I talk to Myrna I’m not really able to have a conversation with her until I deal with the fear then, and the worry that is in my, mind.
Myrna: It’s very true. When you were talking it reminded me of Buddha statement that says suffering is all in the, mind.
Leonard: Well, I believe that suffering is a choice. We all have pain, but suffering is exactly is your choice.

Conscience one of the four functions of the mind
Myrna: Let’s touch on this word, conscience. Can you just explain how, conscience, and the mind works? You said mental problems or situations can be solved by relying on the, conscience, so let’s dive into this, conscience, so we can put you know some context or conversation.
Four functions of the mind
Leonard: Sure. First and foremost, the conscience is one of the four, functions of the mind. In early childhood, I’m sure that many of us had the experience, I know I did, that there always seemed to be different voices in our, mind. And as it turns out, there are four of them.
There is the ego,
the, unconscious mind,
and the, conscience.
So interesting, this was a game changer for me when I learned it was quite shocking. Every single choice that I have ever made in my life, in fact, any human being has made in their life, and every single choice that we will ever make, has been made the, conscience, because, the conscience, is the only function of the mind, that can make a decision. The other three functions of the mind the, ego, the, senses, and the, unconscious mind, cannot make a choice. They only act as advisors. And as advisors, they work all the time in a very determined way.
So, what does that mean? The, ego, senses and, unconscious mind, these advisors, these lobbyists in our, mind, they’re loud, they’re pushy, and are often wrong. Only the, conscience, has the ability alone to make the choice.
Myrna: How do we how do we get this, conscience? I understand that our, conscience, was put by God to distinguish between right and wrong. Is your, conscience, built up after you’re born?
The Ego, the senses and the unconscious mind
Leonard: The hardware of the, mind, is just like the, senses, and so can make two kinds of choices. The first kind of choice occurs when the, ego, senses, and, unconscious mind, are so unruly as they are with most people today. The, ego, senses, and, unconscious mind, are creating a tremendous amount of noise in our, mind, lobbying for their limited perspectives. Then the only way that the, conscience, can make a choice is simply to rubber stamp, the loudest voice it can hear.
We you know, the ego, the senses, and the, unconscious mind, are not always wrong. You need a, healthy ego, to have this conversation right now and make sense of it or to drive an automobile or a truck. We need a, healthy ego, to keep us alive. And that’s gratification. I love a delicious meal just like everybody else and I have a body so why shouldn’t I?
But a lot of times limited perspective of the, ego, senses, and even the, unconscious mind, create habit patterns that are faulty. And if they’re loud and pushy, the, ego, senses and, unconscious mind, are always worried that a saber-toothed Tiger is going to come around the next corner and that we have to fear for our lives. Then the, conscience, will simply rubber stamp loudest voice.
Myrna: Okay, so we rubber stamp the loudest voice in our, mind. So, the loudest voice is saying hey, you know what? I should feel something right there.
Leonard: Maybe I should have a second piece of apple pie.
Myrna: Exactly. You’re going to say get a second piece of apple pie, right? That’s not so much your, conscience, that’s just guilt, but let’s say that we want to steal something and you steal it and then your, conscience, is bothering you. Because you know you shouldn’t have done it. You know what I mean? So, what you’re saying is that you took it because the, ego, let’s choose that one. That’s really the one that’s telling you that you deserve it or something.
How to listen to your conscience
Leonard: That’s right. However, if we can learn to teach and parent, the ego, senses, and unconscious mind, and share their limited perspectives. Then when each of these three functions of the mind, these advisors after they finish presenting their perspective, sit down and be quiet. When the, mind, becomes quiet, the conscience, can make another kind choice.
Okay, now in this silence of the, mind, the conscience, can hear another voice coming from the, super conscious, portion of the mind. And can that reflect that, superconscious, wisdom into our, conscious mind, and that will tell the, conscience, to advise us. This is the action that will lead you for your highest and greatest good.
Myrna: Right? Well, that’s perfect because somewhere along the line I heard that we have five voices in our head, but I’ve never had anybody actually identify those voices. We just know that we have these voices. One of the things I want to circle back to was what you’re saying about, meditation, because this is where the, meditation, link comes in.
When you sit still and be quiet during, meditation, then you’re connecting to source, you’re connecting to your Higher Self, then you’re able to get instructions from your higher self. But normally I guess when you’re making a decision, a lot of times you right you just rubber stamp the highest noise.
The superconscious wisdom
Leonard: There’s another ingredient here and this is the need for culture. We are going so fast. Right now, we do not have time to sit quietly right so that the, conscience, can hear the, superconscious, wisdom and share it with us. We have to make a decision now. If it feels good, the advertisements say just do it.
Myrna: I talk a lot about, meditation, on the show. I’m reading the, meditation book, and it’s telling you that when you sit quietly, what basically happens is things starts to bubble up that you have pushed down, and once it bubbles up that means it is something you need to take care of. So now I’m hearing another reason to sit still is so you can, solve problems, because when you sit still your, conscience, gets to talk to you.
Leonard: That one pointed attention, training the mind, to be one pointed either on a mantra or the breath in, meditation, automatically creates a space between stimulus and response. That means that I am cultivating the skill of being detached. What does that mean? Just because a thought comes into my awareness, suggesting the desire for the second slice of apple pie. When I create a space between that stimulus of that snack and piece of apple pie and my ultimate decision, that space provides me what? Freedom to redirect my attention.
The, conscience, can then reflect, superconscious, wisdom tells me how my relationship should proceed with this desire for a second slice of apple pie. In, meditation, that one pointed attention creates a space between stimulus and response that provides me the freedom to check with my, conscience. And the more that I do that not only create a large resource of creativity coming from the, conscience, to solve all sorts of situations. But I also am continuously building the muscles of willpower to do what’s to be done, when it’s to be done and not to do what is not to be done. And when it is not to be done.
Get the conscience involved with every decision
Myrna; How can we reap instant benefits from employing our, conscience, in every decision that we make?
Leonard: That brings up a very important point to do with the, law of karma. That simply means that thoughts lead to action, action, which leads to consequence. Now, as we mentioned a few moments ago most of us feel that the consequence that we want to experience in every relationship is, happiness, to carry good health in body and mind. The question is, do we have a business for that?
I call it the, bridge of yoga. The, bridge of yoga, is a philosophical and a scientific bridge that encourages us 24/7 to base our outer actions thoughts, words and deeds, on the, superconscious wisdom, that is within us, that is us at the core of our being. And the more that I can employ that, bridge of yoga, we can call it anything, we can call it the bridge of Christianity, the bridge of Judaism, the bridge of Islam. You see, you can come up with your own name, but is the more that we base our outer actions. The wise good counsel the, conscience, we are continuously enabled, meekly fulfill the purpose of life without pain, misery or bondage.
Sowing and reaping begin with our thoughts, I can’t even raise my hand without first undertaking a thought. The mind moves first, the body just follows. So, what we want the bodies to take an action to bring about a consequence that will bring me, happiness, health and security. I better examine my thoughts.
Because not every thought is going to bring the, happiness, bring me security, or bring the health of the, conscience. If I counsel with the, conscience, and I can quiet the, ego, senses and, unconscious mind, after they make the presentation of their limited perspectives. The, conscience, will tell me what’s to be done.
Myrna: Tell us about your book “Your Conscience” why did you write it and what do you want readers to walk away with after writing after reading it?
Leonard: I wrote it during the first months of COVID. I was in quarantine and a teacher. I had people coming to the American meditation Institute where I teach. But they weren’t coming because everybody was in quarantine at the time. So how am I going to reach people? What do I have that I can give them?
People are in tremendous amount of pain and they don’t have the tools. This goes back to scouting. They don’t have the tools to be prepared for whatever life can throw them. What can I give them? I asked myself, I said, the most important thing I can give them is an understanding of the functions of the mind and how to coordinate them serve the, conscience. And so that’s why I wrote the book.
Myrna; What do you want them to walk away with?
Leonard: The only thing that I would like them to walk away with is not believe me. I don’t want anyone who can hear this, to believe a word I am saying. But I would appreciate it. I will support you if this is true. If you’re interested and willing to experiment with your own, conscience, in all sorts of situations, but make sure that they’re all easy at first.
You don’t want to just pick up 200 pounds thinking that you’re going to build muscles when you’ve never done any kind of exercise before. Start with one or two pounds and then three or four and then five and 10 pounds. And within a short time, you’ll be building some muscles without injuring yourself. So, if you’re interested at all, turn your entire life into a laboratory to experiment with your own, conscience, and see what happens. Train and love and parent, your, ego, senses, and, unconscious mind.
Myrna: How can readers pick up a copy of your book. What’s your social media handles if anyone wants to follows you? And of course, you are the director of the American meditation Institute’s you can also talk about that.
Leonard: Well, yes, I founded the American meditation Institute in 1996. And our website is www.Americanmeditation.org. On the homepage, you can see our foundation course which provides a full curriculum of everything that I’ve been discussing. There’s also on the homepage, a free link to a Sunday meditation every Sunday from 930 to 11am. Eastern time, you get a, free guided meditation, and a free date to discuss philosophical questions, just like Myrna and I have been discussing today. You also get a free recording.
Dr. Gleb Tsipursky , is a Ukrainian and a behavioral scientist. He shares why we should never go with our gut. He believes that Putin went with his gut and attacked Ukraine believing it would be an easy victory because he was able to attack Crimea in 2014. There was not a very strong international push and reaction against, Russia. And the, Ukraine Army, did not perform very well. And so, he judged that based on past trends, and the same thing would happen again and he, underestimated the enemy.
And so, those impulses to make decisions quickly without sufficient information. That’s what a snap judgment is. And we do that because we’re overconfident. Just like, Putin, was overconfident in this situation, people are also overconfident about who they marry and chose a partner without proper information.
Myrna: Putin said that the reason he invaded, Ukraine, was because there were Jewish Nazis in, Ukraine. Everybody said that that was a ludicrous idea, because your president, Volodymyr Zelensky, is Jewish. So, educate us to what do you think was going on with, Putin. Why did the Jews come into the conversation?
Dr Gleb: The crucial thing, so again, I have a Jewish background and so does the current President of Ukraine, Zelensky, who has become world famous right now.
And so, Ukraine, and, Russia, and all that part of the world. A really important part of their heritage is fighting against the Nazi Germany in World War Two. So, if you think of the history books in, Russia, in, Ukraine, and Moldova, in Belarus, Latvia, Estonia, the United States, you have the 1776 revolution was like a fundamental episode in American history, kind of the founding in the Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, that part of the world, the former Soviet territories.
World War Two is really the crucial element that is in the history books as marking the rise of the Soviet Union, Russia, Ukraine. And so that was a fight against Nazi Germany. And that’s part of the people’s identity. So, whenever the political leadership is trying to scare people, and manipulate them into doing what the leadership wants, it brings out the specter of Nazis and labels everything bad on the Nazis. And so that when, Putin, was saying denazification. He’s not speaking to us, he’s speaking to his own people to justify the war. Putin, doesn’t think that the world outside, Russia, will be convinced that there are any actual real Nazis in the, Ukraine.

Does Putin war on Ukraine come from his gut?
Myrna: Thanks for explaining a little bit about what, Putin, is doing as far as his conversation about the Nazi Germany. But let’s talk about you, you became a, risk management, and, decision-making expert, when we’re talking about war, when we’re talking about the pandemic, when we’re talking about anything that has risks; that is where your expertise lies. So, tell us about this, risk management, and what is that all about?
Dr Gleb: Sure, happy to. So, there’s a reason that my book was called “Never Go with Your Gut” Our, intuition, unfortunately, has been shown to lie to us very often. And many people trust their intuition. So, they think I should trust my, gut, that if it tells me something. That’s what I should do. I mean, that’s what, Putin, did when invaded, Ukraine. He trusted his, gut, and we can see where it landed him? In some very bad places.
Myrna: Yes, his gut told him that, Ukraine, would be an easy win, 6 weeks later, he had not made any progress.
Dr Gleb: You’re exactly right. You can see that his, gut, was very wrong. And that’s because he bought into these ideas, myths that you should trust your gut to follow your intuition. Despite the advice of many military advisors are telling him no to invade, Ukraine. Instead, Putin, sent his troops very quickly with unaccompanied tanks, paratroopers without sufficient support to try to occupy airfields around here to basically take the political capital. And that worked out very badly for him.

Putin underestimated the enemy
My background is in, behavioral science, which means how do we behave, and why do we behave that way, it is part of, cognitive neuroscience. How does the structure of, mind, shape what we do? And the interesting thing about that is that our, mind, is really not evolved for the environment. So, when we see what our, mind, is about, our, intuition, our, gut reactions, those parts of ourselves that are bound for the savanna environment when we lived in small tribes of 50 people to 150 people, and survive using the fight or flight reflex.
And so, we have certain, intuitions, that are shaped by that Savanna environment that various structures of our, minds, which cause our, mind, to be lazy, minimizing the work that needs to be done. That causes us to make very quick snap judgments and make decisions based on past tendencies and predictions of what would happen.
So, for example, with, Ukraine, when, Putin, was able to attack Crimea in 2014, there was not a very strong international push and reaction against, Russia. And the, Ukraine Army, did not perform very well. And so, he judged that based on past trends, and the same thing would happen again and he, underestimated the enemy.
Why Putin Underestimated Ukraine
Myrna: Zelensky, was not the president back in 2014. Putin, underestimated the enemy, right.
Dr Gleb, He not only, underestimated the enemy, but the, Ukrainian army, which was very much strengthened, both by, Ukraine, itself and by Western Arms, military arms during that period, and he underestimated the strength and resolving of the international response, which was very strong.
Myrna: Putin, underestimated the enemy, because, Ukraine, is not part of NATO, so he felt they won’t get any help. He made a lot of bad calculations.
Dr Gleb: We need to learn that our, gut, often is not to be trusted. There’s a reason that about 50% of marriages end in divorce. Because people tend to trust their gut their intuitions about marriage.
Myrna: You’re right we marry somebody because of your, gut feelings.
Never Go With Your Gut feelings
Dr Gleb: Yeah, you should make a more evaluative and calculating decision. And it feels very weird for people to hear this if they should make a calculated decision about who to marry. But if you don’t think through your decision, you are not going to make good choices. Let’s say you want kids, are you prepared to raise your children as a single mother if you get divorce? Since the divorce rate is 50% and most times the women are taking care of the kids, you have to think this through before you get married.
If I’m the woman, I don’t want to be the sole caretaker of the kids. If we have kids will need to divide up responsibilities. 50% right, otherwise, so one of the most common periods for people to get divorced when you look at when people get divorced is the first year after having a child which is pretty terrible.
And so, those impulses to make decisions quickly without sufficient information. That’s what a snap judgment is. And we do that because we’re overconfident. Just like, Putin, was overconfident in this situation, people are overconfident about who they marry.
What is the impact of Russia’s war on Ukraine in the US
Myrna: Let’s get back to the war on, Ukraine. What do you think is the impact of, Russia, war on, Ukraine, on Ukrainians, and then on the Russians living in the United States?
Dr Gleb: So, Ukrainians like myself are definitely devastated by it. And we feel very strongly a lot of anger, a lot of frustration. And there’s especially this very weird dynamic where we’re all part of the, Russian, speaking community, right. I don’t speak, Ukrainian, all, I speak is, Russian. But there are many, Ukrainians, who don’t speak the, Ukrainian, language, especially for ones who come from more from eastern, Ukraine.
And so right now, many, Ukrainians, are in the weird position of speaking a language that is associated with an enemy and that is their cultural heritage. And that’s been the position I find myself in. So that’s like a really strange and weird dynamic. And there’s a lot of sympathy and empathy for the people in, Ukraine, especially with people like myself, I have family there, and I’m really worried about them. So that’s kind of, Ukrainians, and our experience.
Now I also have a lot of, Russian, friends and interests. My wife is actually Russian. She’s from Moscow, and I have a lot of other Russian people in my life, and I know that their main feeling is shame. Shame for what, Russia, is doing. People are burning their passports, just putting lighter fluid on their passports and burning them and expressing a lot of shame and grief and frustration. Feeling that they can’t ever go back to, Russia.
Discrimination against Russians in the US
It’s sad to see that there are some people in the United States who are expressing discrimination against, Russian, people. And of course, it’s really hard to tell someone who’s, Russian, from someone who’s, Ukrainian, like me, because we are speaking the same language, and have the same culture.
The Russians who are here are specifically up left, Russia, they do not want to be covered by that. So, it’s very important to not discriminate against them and to be supportive of them.
Myrna: How is the war on, Ukraine, going to affect relations in the future? Is there going to be some hate there between, Ukrainians, and, Russians? Do you think that divide is going to be permanent?
Dr Gleb: Yeah, I think that this divide is going to be there for several generations, because having this situation with just this brutal military conflict, especially some of the terrible, war crimes, coming out of Kharkiv, and other cities. Civilians are being executed with their hands tied up and then being shot. That’s a horrible thing. And of course, other terrible things like, rape, and so on, but just the killing of civilians without any particular reason.
So, discovering those things is especially bad and just the shelling of Mariupol killing all those civilians. It that’s pretty terrible. I think the scenes especially of the brutal atrocities and, war crimes, in Kharkiv, is going to cause a lot of just hatred for a very long time.
Myrna: So horrible to imagine and witness. Putin, is a, psychopath. He is exactly like Hitler.
Is Putin a Psychopath?
Dr Gleb: People like, Putin, who are arrogant, narcissistic, psychopaths, who just feel that they’re entitled and they’re grandiose and they’re ambitious, and they go with their gut. And then they make some pretty bad decisions that may harm all of us.
Myrna: So, what can the US do about, Russia’s war in Ukraine? You haven’t. You have some advice for the political powers?
Dr Gleb: Sure. So, I think one of the really important things to think about is how are, Ukrainian, citizens dealing with it from a humanitarian perspective, and to support, Ukrainian, citizens from a humanitarian perspective. I think that’s very important. And what the United States does now will be remembered for a very long time, because the United States has been in the global eyes, it has been weakened in a number of situations, foreign policy wise.
Let’s say what happened in Afghanistan, that doesn’t look good and everywhere in Syria, many situations. So, this is a chance for us to redeem ourselves, and to really show that we are the leaders of the free world, and to really provide a model of how the world should act toward, Ukraine, by helping rebuild, Ukraine, is incredibly important.
Right now, Russia, is focusing on, Eastern Ukraine. I think there shouldn’t be a lot of efforts to rebuild the, Western Ukraine, at least with something like the Marshall Plan that was instituted after, World War Two, where the United States helped rebuild Europe after it was devastated by World War Two, something like that.
People ask, how much is going to cost? It’s definitely going to cost money, but think about the longtime term, the kind of goodwill we will get from all the people in, Ukraine, the people around, Ukraine, in Europe and elsewhere who will see the United States rebuilding a country that was devastated by foreign affairs.
Myrna: The United States, what about all countries in NATO?
Dr Gleb: We’re talking about what the United States can do right now. I certainly think the countries in NATO, it would be nice to help, but regardless of what they do, it’s very important for us as the leaders of the free world to help rebuild, Ukraine. NATO aren’t the leaders of the free world. We are the leaders of the free world.
So, we should model the kind of behavior we want to see. And we should make sure by supporting, Ukraine, and building up, Ukraine, as a democratic country, we should make sure to support democracy around the world, because right now, we’re very much facing threats to our democracy. Threats not only from, Russia, but much more importantly, China, other countries that are authoritarian regional countries that are not behaving very well.
And so we want to build up democracy and that means building up, Ukraine, and especially as the war winds down, and of course, at the same time supplying, Ukraine army, which we’re currently doing. I think that’s great. I think we should continue doing that and build up on top, but I certainly don’t think we should put any of our forces in there. I think we should provide them with weapons.
Putin’s failure to defeat Ukraine
Myrna: The United States is also accepting, Ukrainian refugees.
So, we allow, Putin, to go in and destroy this country, and then somebody else has to rebuild it. How do we stop him from doing it again, or any other country from doing it? Is there a way to stop that? I mean, Putin, should rebuild, Ukraine.
Dr Gleb: For sure, it’s easier to destroy than to build. That’s first of all, and I think what will prevent him from doing it, again, is the, sanctions, that will degrade, Russia’s economy, and ability to build more modern weapons. That’s what we need to worry about, about, Russia, having more modern weapons, and by using pretty harsh, sanctions, which I think it would be good if the, sanctions, were ramped up more that will that will punish, Russia, and prevent it from going to war easily. Again, the future will also demonstrate to other countries like China that they should not be invading countries.
If you look at the Chinese messaging, communication, propaganda, they’re very much pro-Russian. So, we want to make sure that we have very strong, sanctions, on, Russia, in order to discourage China and other countries from trying anything like this in the future.
Myrna: It is great that, Putin, did not succeed, because if people are still watching it, you know what I mean? It wasn’t a successful venture. It was just a very costly venture, destroyed, the whole country, killed innocent people, and he didn’t get anything. He didn’t possess the land.
Sanctions to punish Putin
Dr Gleb: You absolutely right Myrna that’s very important. So, that’s coming in part from our military help, which is great. And also, the, sanctions, are helping. We need to keep the, sanctions, but it is very important to rebuild, Ukraine. Nobody will do it if we don’t do. And so, this is the crucial thing that I think I want to point out that we really need to work on rebuilding credit. If we want democracy to flourish.
It’s very easy to say democracy is great, and it will flourish naturally. But we see that’s not the case. China, Russia and many, many other countries are authoritarian. And if we want democracy to win instead of authoritarianism, like in China and Russia, we need to build up democracies after they’re devastated by authoritarian states.
I think is really important for to see happen in, Ukraine. On the one hand, I think we definitely want to welcome refugees, Ukrainian refugees. I don’t think we should mandatorily support from coming here. So, there’s a natural filter system for the only the most capable and dedicated ones coming here because it takes a lot of money to come to United States.
So, we’d not have a program or evacuation like an Afghanistan, where we support people, Ukraine. I think we want to welcome, Ukrainians. And also more controversially, I think we should really want to welcome those, Russians, who are leaving, Russia.
Myrna: How can listeners get in touch with you for, speaking engagements, your book, your articles, your social media handles etc.

Will Smith, had 10 seconds to choose a different, thought, before the, concrete set, and, reality, hardened when he slapped Chris Rock on national television
I just finished reading Will Smith’s biography “Will” I really enjoyed reading his book and recommend it to anyone interested in changing their mindset.
There were 3 main quotes from, Will Smith’s, book that I loved, one of them was “You have 10 seconds until the concrete sets and, reality, hardens.” I think this is a good time to talk about what that really means and reference what happened at the, 94th Oscars, between, Will Smith, and, Chris Rock.
The book starts off with, Will Smith, calling himself a, coward, because he watched his father often slap his mother and reign terror on his family as a child. He felt he was a, coward, because he didn’t do anything about it.
His father’s legacy was also the year that he made, Will Smith, and his brother Harry build a concrete wall so Will learned his concrete, analogy, from personal experience “You have 10 seconds until the, concrete sets, and, reality, hardens.
Will used this analogy when his friend and fellow performer Ready Rock did not come out on stage for his set when he called for him, because he was jealous of Will’s success. He gave him 10 seconds to make a better choice and when he didn’t, reality, set and Will never called for him again.
He used this same concrete, analogy, of, reality, setting, when his girlfriend Melonie was about to go out somewhere and he told her not to go and she walked through the door anyway. The, concreate set, and the, reality, was that it was over. Will Smith, set her clothes on fire and never saw her again.

By now you have all heard or seen the, slap, on national television. Will Smith, did not like something that, Chris Rock, said about his wife. Chris Rock, make fun of her hair, and now he himself had 10 seconds until the, concrete set, to change that, reality. 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3, Will Smith, walked up on stage and slapped, Chris Rock, in the face and the, concrete set, and reality hardened.
He can never take that back regardless how much he cries, how much he apologizes he can never take it back, it will live on, on the internet forever.
The concrete has set and, reality, hardened. Whether you believe, Chris Rock, was wrong to joke about Jada’s bald head, we know it was wrong for, Will Smith, to walk on stage at the, Oscars, and, slap, him.
Will Smith Grew up with Domestic Violence
Will Smith’s father was a bully and he grew up with domestic violence, seeing his father slap his wife and kids until his mother eventually left him, and in an out of body experience, Will Smith, became his dad. He got out of his seat and slapped someone because he did not like what he said about his wife.
In his autobiography, published in November 2021, the actor describes at length the appalling, domestic violence, he and his three siblings witnessed his father, Willard, inflict on his mother.
“When I was nine years old, I watched my father punch my mother in the side of the head so hard that she collapsed,” he wrote. “I saw her spit blood. That moment in that bedroom, probably more than any other moment in my life, has defined who I am. I am a, coward”
Will Smith thinks he is a coward
Will Smith, says “Within everything that I have done since then — the awards and accolades, the spotlights and attention, the characters and the laughs — there has been a subtle string of apologies to my mother for my inaction that day. For failing her in the moment. For failing to stand up to my father. For being a, coward.
“What you have come to understand as ‘Will Smith’, the alien-annihilating MC, the bigger-than-life movie star, is largely a construction – a carefully crafted and honed character designed to protect myself. To hide myself from the world. To hide the, coward.”
Training the mind to make a better choice
So how do we make better choices in the 10 seconds before the, concrete sets? You have to, train the mind. Just like you can’t learn to swim when you are drowning, you can’t make good choices when you are thrown in the fire; unless the, mind, is trained on what to do in the fire and then takes over on autopilot.
Start training your mind to make the right choices because when the, concrete sets, there is no going back, reality, becomes permanent.
When you feel that rage bubbling up inside you, choose a better, thought. Count to 10 and breathe because the devil is driving around looking for people to destroy. The prison is full of both men and women who had 10 seconds to choose and made the wrong choice.
What would have happened if Will Smith chose a better thought
Ready Rock made the wrong choice, Melonie made the wrong choice and now Will Smith, made the wrong choice. Let’s imagine that, Will Smith, had continued to pretend that he liked the joke. In those 10 seconds he would have laughed while seething inside, 40 mins later he would have accepted his, academy award, and realized that had reached the pinnacle of his career. The concrete would have set on joy and victory and he would have gone home and forget about Chris Rock’s joke, but the, concrete set, on a bad choice and now no one will forget.

How Inner engineering changed my life
Myrna: I guess your journey began when you took, Sadhguru’s, Inner Engineering, wellbeing programs. So, can you tell us about that program and why specifically, that led you to change your life? I just read the book “Inner Engineering” So I’m sure that the, the program goes much deeper than the book.
Trent: Definitely, especially into the experiential dimensions of, yoga. So, growing up, I grew up in an interfaith household. So, I always had more questions than answers. I was very intrigued by Eastern ways of thinking from a young age. And when I went to college, I started studying neuroscience. I was going to become a doctor was very interested in psychology and behavior in language. And I thought, Alright, I need to experience, meditation, hands on and my older brother who had the chance to take, Inner Engineering, strongly recommended the program.
So, if you happen to be going to Houston where I was living, to teach, Inner Engineering, and at that time, it was a four-day course, a complete overhaul of, Mind, Body, emotions and energy. So, I thought, Alright, I’m finishing my first year of college. I would love to experience what, meditation, means in its purest form, so I sign up for the, inner engineering, course. And I joke Myrna that I learned more in those four days about the, mind, and human behavior than I did in four years of psychology classes.
Myrna: Wow! I’m impressed.
Let’s talk about what is “professional” today. On LinkedIn, important conversations are happening around what it means to be a professional. As the Host of the Transform Your Mind Podcast being professional means to me being respectful of my guest and their time.
Right now, LinkedIn members are talking about things like needing more flexibility around where we work, how we work, and even taking time away from work to focus on family or mental health.
Because those things should not stunt career development and growth. Instead, they should enhance it as we show up on our own terms.
Members are even putting what’s most important to them into their job titles, with things like: Podcast host-slash-activist-slash-mom.
I know I am going to update my job title to say Podcast host-lifecoach-realtor-wife-mom
Professional is ours to define. And our authentic self is our professional self. So, if your LinkedIn doesn’t reflect who you really are, update your job title.
Go ahead Post your truth. Show the world the authentic, professional you. And join the conversations redefining “professional” on LinkedIn. LinkedIn. Welcomes, professionals.
The Inner Engineering Experience
Trent: Very touching experience, because I found that there wasn’t an ounce of dogma in the words, Sadhguru, was simply speaking about life at its core, through his perception as a Realized, yogi, and, mystic. The way that he spoke about, relationships, about work, about meaning about life, about death, about functioning at your highest, and looking at the human system as a mechanism, really distilling things down to the basics.
Would you like this human machine to work well or not? If you could choose between joy, and misery, which would you choose? And it was just framed in such a pragmatic and compelling way that I couldn’t help, but be very deeply touched. And I think the most important part of that four-day experience with, Sadhguru, was learning a 21-minute yogic practice. It’s called Shambhavi Mahamudra kriya, which is a simple 21-day practice that involves holding certain postures to prepare the system for, meditation.
And I kid you not, within a few weeks of doing this simple practice, I found myself feeling more connected to nature seeing greener in everything around me when I was when I was in nature and walking through trees, felt a deeper sense of ease.
You know, college can be a tumultuous time and I found that the practice gave me a certain anchor, a certain level of stability and serenity. So, it was a phenomenal boost and it continues to be such an integral part of my life and my wellbeing.

Myrna: Wow, that’s amazing. You know, it’s really interesting. I read the book “Inner Engineering”, after I read the book, I started communicating with trees as I did my daily walk in the park. I like what you said regarding your studying neuroscience which is all about the workings of the brain. And you know, the brain controls the body and the mind and all that stuff. But yet in four days, you were able to tap into something. And I’m thinking that what happened is that you were able to tap into source energy somehow, which is the universal power. And that’s basically what changed you.
That is awesome. And the amazing part of your story, and I’m glad you left it out so they can ask the question. The most amazing part of your story is that after you had that experience, you decided to become a full-time volunteer at the, Isha Foundation. I find that the most fascinating part of our conversation.
Trent: It’s was a 10-year journey, I found myself wanting to go deeper.

Who is Sadhguru
Myrna: So, we talked a lot about, Sadhguru. We talked about the, Isha yoga center, but our conversation today is about the, save soil movement, before we go on there. Let’s give the listeners some information about, Sadhguru, what his initiatives are, for people that don’t know who he is.
Trent: Absolutely, there are many ways of describing, Sadhguru. In simple terms, he is a, yogi, and a visionary. And he’s been known over the last four decades for massive initiatives to foster human wellbeing and also global harmony. So, he’s implemented large scale projects for environmental restoration.
He has taught, yoga, programs that have touched the lives of millions. Fundamentally, his mission, as I understand it, is to raise, human consciousness, to allow people to experience the enormity of what it means to be human and moving humanity from a compulsive state of existence to a conscious state of existence.
Doing things in a conscious way in a way is conducive for one’s growth for one’s wellbeing and for the wellbeing of all. So, over the last 40 years, there are so many different things that, Sadhguru, has designed and implemented to support raising, human consciousness, to support individual wellbeing and growth. There are social outreach initiatives and healthcare outreach and kind of these basic things that we may not think of as, spiritual, but without them, it’s not really reasonable to expect someone to turn inward.
So, without addressing ecology, without addressing education, and of course, the economy allowing people to be economically empowered and to be in a stable situation. These were kind of the fundamental things that, Sadhguru, and the entire, Isha Foundation, has been looking at, so that we can arrive at a state where all of humanity can, use the tools of inner wellbeing. Use the tools and technologies that allow one to experience their humanity as the miracle and as the blissful phenomenon that is.

What is the save soil movement?
Myrna; It’s amazing. Yeah. And as you were speaking, I remember you know, my pastor saying when somebody is hungry, or someone is in need, it is not the time to be telling them things like, meditation, and telling them things like, finding God you’ve got to satisfy those basic needs.
Now let’s talk about the, save soil movement. I’m a little bit prepared for it because, Sadhguru, had a webinar about a week or so ago, and I listened to it. So, I understand, the basic foundation is that we’re depleting the, soil, and its nutrients. So, can you explain, what’s the, save soil movement, is all about and what are its goals?
Trent: Absolutely happy to lay it out. We face a problem on the planet, which is the degradation of, soil, and to answer this, there’s a movement called the, save soil movement, which aims to address the looming threat of, soil extinction, and to encourage the policy changes globally needed to restore our, soil. So, this is a campaign that will raise mass awareness as well as show the governments of the world that it is time to create, soil friendly policies, that regenerate our world, soil.

Soil needs 3% organic matter
So, what is the actual problem? Well, the leading world bodies as well as leading, soil scientists, have shared that 62% of the world’s agricultural, soil, is already degraded. In the US alone, half of our topsoil has basically been destroyed. It’s not farmable. It’s not arable. In European nations. The amount of organic content in the, soil, is dropping drastically and when you hit a certain threshold, basically beneath 3% organic matter, the, soil, becomes sand.
And sadly, when we talk about, soil degradation, this is what is happening globally, that you’re losing the life that microorganisms, the organic matter that makes, soil, a living entity. The living substance that it is in India, a country of 1.3 billion people which relies, very heavily on their agriculture, 62% of India’s, soil, has less than half a percent of organic matter.
Remember, the magic number is 3%. Beyond 3%, the, soil, becomes sand but with half a percent of organic matter in India soils in the majority of their, soils, you’re really creating a situation where the, soil, cannot deliver and create the plants and crops and vegetables and fruit that are needed for life.
This is something when I learned about it, Myrna was absolutely dropped jaw dropping, because you know, we talk a lot about greenhouse emissions we talk about, a rising sea levels and all of these things demand our attention, no doubt, but why have I not heard about, soil?
Why are we not talking about, soil, because almost all of our food on earth comes from our, soil. It is the giver of life. There cannot be any richness in life if we don’t have rich, soil. But this issue of organic matter disappearing rapidly from our, soil, doesn’t seem to be getting the attention it deserves.

What takes nutrients out of soil
Myrna: So that’s awesome. A couple of circle backs, first of all, what is taking the nutrients out of the, soil?
Trent: My understanding having been learning about this for over a year, and I’ve actually had the privilege of speaking with leading, soil biologists, people who study this, academically and professionally, it is there are multiple pieces, but to simplify it, the practices we’re using in our modern era of how to farm play a big role in degrading the, soil, by using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. You are harming the microbial life.
A lot of us don’t realize that, a teaspoon of, soil, has billions and billions of microorganisms. Actually, it has more organisms than there are human beings on earth, just a teaspoon of, soil. So, we have this this complex yet fragile ecosystem living within the, soil, how you treat it makes a big difference.
Spraying certain chemicals, using certain fertilizers can make a difference. The practice of, tilling the soil, which is something we’ve used for centuries, it seems like it’s effective. When you till, soil, you’re kind of violently uprooting and disturbing the, soil, beneath the surface and this can harm the microorganism life.
Tilling is bad for soil
Tilling, also exposes, soil, to the elements so you have massive amounts of carbon dioxide and methane being released into the air so your, soil, is being harmed and damaged and you’re contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, which is really a double whammy. So, if I had to summarize it, it is that our modern industrial farming practices are playing a role in in damaging and destroying the, soils, that we have. Can we change it overnight? No, but should we be aware that these are the problems that we’re facing and find solutions to boost the organic matter?
There are so many amazing people in this arena regenerative farmers, policymakers who are aware of the, soil, issue of entire nonprofits and divisions of the UN who recognize that we are heading towards desertification. We’re heading towards arid areas where there used to be thriving, soil. This is a part of the planet that we must take steps to save.
Myrna: Yeah, I’m a little bit aware of that, that I don’t know if I heard it from, Sadhguru, or somewhere else. A farmer, is using the same soil and I guess as they keep repeating it, it keeps getting less and less of the microorganisms. They’re harming it by the pesticides, which they have to because then the bugs, we need up their product. They’re harming it by, tilling. But is if we don’t stop this degradation of the, soil, is there a way to put it back in? I remember when I was growing up, we would use cow manure as a fertilizer. Can that work?
How to put back nutrients into the soil
Trent: Yes, There is something I would just love to share with your audience to learn more about this because the solutions and problems have been known actually, for decades. We’re not reinventing anything here, many indigenous cultures and traditions are across the planet for centuries, if not millennia, have had thriving, soil. It’s really only recently that we’re facing such widespread destruction of our, soil. At conscious planet.org has a wonderful video that we’ve created to share. There’s a simple video that describes this problem in very simple but scientifically valid ways.
There’s also a documentary which was a game changer for me. It’s available on Netflix called “Kiss The Ground.” And this is a phenomenal resource that explores in depth, the vital role that, soil, plays in our life as well as, the people who are trying to turn around this crisis. And both on the conscious planet website and this documentary and of course, so many resources that are out there. We will quickly learn that, the bulk of the problems created by our farming practices. And the solution also lies in our farming practices.
What you mentioned about, animal waste, it can be cows, it can be goats, it can be chickens, simply having animals grazing. The land and dropping their waste inoculate a, soil, with organic matter. There’s also a very vital and well-known technique called cover crops, where for periods of time you aren’t actually farming the land or at least plots of land for, specific harvests. You actually planting different kinds of crops and trees and shrubs that invigorate the, soil, that capture carbon and other nutrients from the atmosphere and embedded into the, soil, which again is a phenomenal thing to address global warming and greenhouse emissions.
These are two examples of many, many practices that are that are great for the, soil, but if we can add more plant matter and animal waste to the, soil, that can bring more organic content. And if you can allow for more and more land to be under shade, where it’s not being scorched by the sun and being you know, decertified those are two simple, but very, very powerful practices.
Join the save soil movement
I think joining our, save soil movement, so from March 21, all the way through the end of June, there will be a powerful 100-day journey. Sadhguru, will actually be motorcycling 30,000 kilometers across 27 countries in Europe, Middle East and then finally in India. He is he’s 65. This is not something you would expect and it’s not a joyride by any means, this is something that he’s doing to, wake people up and to very swiftly meet with, leaders in each country.
So, if everyone can be with us for this movement and for this 100 Day epic journey that in itself will prove to be invaluable because, we’re going to be amplifying things on social media. We’re going to be having, events that take place throughout all the European countries into the Middle East and then India. I would say for now, it’s about awareness, education and speaking out. And then very quickly, you’ll see this movement evolve into the next phase, which is how do we inspire and encourage the governments of the world to pass these, soil friendly policies.
So, to the citizens of the world, we play a vital role we don’t have to solve all of it, but learning and sharing and speaking about it, our hashtag is #savesoil. We’re going to be active on virtually every platform. So, following you know, conscious planet on Instagram and Twitter and Facebook. We have YouTube content being translated and dozens of languages that people across the world can learn about this.
Use Hashtag #savesoil to post to social media
#savesoil hashtag and campaign will be a way of connecting all of us and, you can share a video of you connecting with, soil, you can show share a video of talking about the food where did this come from. Why does it so matter? Any small action can translate to a groundswell of people becoming aware of the, save soil movement. And we’ve actually created a role for this. If you visit the website and press Get involved. We’re asking people to sign up to become, Earth buddies. So, I’m an, earth buddy.
To learn more about, Isha Foundation, of the center here in India, it’s Isha.sadhguru.org. There’s amazing content there daily quotes, all sorts of video content and articles. There’s a lot of content there about, soil, since that is, a fundamental way of connecting with nature. And then the, save soil movement, itself will be, catalyzed and unfolding via the conscious planet and, save soil, performance.
Mindfulness, is the practice of training our minds to be, present, moment by moment. When we are, mindful, we are, conscious, of what is happening around us, our environment, our emotions, our reactions, etc. When we are fully, present, or practice, mindfulness, we listen rather than just hear, we perceive rather than just see. Mindfulness, affects everything we do, and impacts every interaction we have with others.
In this episode of 5 mins with Coach Myrna, I teach on the topic of, Mindfulness. Mindfulness, is the art of, being present. It is not as easy as it may seem to become, mindful. As humans we are controlled by automatic programming for over 95% of the time, so remembering to stay in the space of, mindfulness, is also saying to become more, conscious.
Our minds are really good at shuffling between past, present and future, driven by our fears and desires, memories and imagination. Our minds habitually go from reflecting on the past one moment, to worrying about the future at the next moment, with very little time spent on being fully, present. This behavior is so habitual that we don’t even realize that we are not, present.
For some people, mindfulness, is primarily a way to enhance health or performance. For others, mindfulness, is a tool for self-exploration. And for yet others, mindfulness, is part of a spiritual path, a way to develop insight into the human condition and freedom from suffering.
Regardless of the motivation, scientists find that practicing, mindfulness, is associated with changes in the structure and function of the brain as well as changes in our physiological responses to stress, suggesting that this practice has important impacts on our physical and emotional health that are worth exploring.
How to Do Mindfulness
Mindful, action is connecting the body with the mind. Yoga is one way we connect our bodies and mind through movement to release stored stress and trauma. Mindful Breathing, is regulating our breathing to shift the way we feel, so we can better regulate our emotions.
Mindful Centering, is being aware of what you are thinking about as you think it. Becoming conscious of your thoughts and then using the breath to keep your focus in the, present moment. This allows you to center back in the, present, and breathe when the mind moves into the past or the future.
Focused attention is another, mindfulness, technique. This technique uses the breath to anchor the mind and maintain awareness. Focus your attention on the breath — specifically the rise and fall of the chest — and return to the breath whenever you get distracted or notice your, mind, starting to wander.
What is Mindfulness meditation
Mindfulness Meditation, is an ancient Buddhist tradition that focuses on clearing your, mind, and stillness. You can think of, mindfulness meditation, as training for your, mind, in the same way exercise trains your physical body. Just as there are different workouts you can engage in to get your body fit, there are different types of, meditation, you can practice to sharpen your, mind. One of these types is, mindfulness meditation.
Like its name suggests, mindfulness meditation, involves becoming more mindful of the breath and the sensations in your body as you focus on your breathing. When thoughts come to the forefront of the, mind, you let them float away like colored balloons being taken away by the wind. You do not analyze the thoughts or let them take you into the past or the future, you simply let them come and go without being judgmental about them or trying to figure out what they mean.
Your goal is to become, mindful, of the, present moment, and how your body responds to these thoughts. This allows you to ultimately become less reactive to or overwhelmed by what you’re feeling — particularly when it comes to things like stress and anxiety.
Benefits of Mindfulness meditation
While, mindfulness meditation, may have once seemed like an esoteric practice that only monks or the highly spiritual did, it has now become mainstream. Everybody now knows of the measurable benefits of, meditation. Meditation, has undergone numerous clinical studies that are cluing scientists into the very real benefits this practice has. As it turns out, meditation, is officially great for your, mind and body.
When it comes to the science behind, meditation, different studies have investigated its relationship to a variety of different health conditions. While research remains ongoing, so far, there’s demonstrated evidence that, meditation, may promote an array of positive health effects, including:
A natural reduction in pain levels
Lower blood pressure in people who are at risk of developing high blood pressure
“Help with psychological distress, anxiety, depression, anger/hostility and coping ability,” according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Possible reduction of widespread body inflammation
Better immune system functioning
On another practical level, mindfulness meditation, helps your body, including your nervous system relax.
How Mindfulness Meditation works
Mindfulness meditation, doesn’t only change our, mindset, and perspective, it actually can change the shape of our brains. Generalized neuroimaging, meditation, studies found that 8 weeks of, mindfulness meditation, also changes our brains, rewiring them towards more positive thoughts and emotions.
Your ability to relax has a profound effect on your bodily functions, and the relaxation, meditation, leads to can lower your blood pressure, improve circulation and lowers your heart rate. You could see less perspiration, less strain in your breathing and lower levels of stress hormones in your body.
One of the biggest benefits of, mindfulness meditation, is mental. Being, mindful, can reduce your stress levels and anxiety and make you feel more relaxed. Regular, mindfulness meditation, becomes a tool you can use throughout your life to boost your mental and physical wellness.
Meditation as a spiritual practice
For many people, meditation is a, spiritual practice. It can allow you to feel closer to God and more connected to your faith. This transcendent state feels otherworldly.
Meditation, may also help kids learn to become more grounded and stable. You should begin practicing, mindfulness meditation, with your kids. Children benefit from the act of relaxing and concentrating. Practicing, mindfulness, can help them with their emotions, stress, anxiety, and feelings, just as it can for adults. Life is full of new feelings for children, and you may see an improvement in your child’s wellbeing after introducing, meditation.
People, meditate, for different reasons. While some do it as a religious practice, others practice for, self-development, a better sense of clarity, or just being still and hearing God. Many hope to feel more balanced and relaxed by lowering their stress levels. Whatever your reason, start by trying a few techniques to see which works best for you. Remember to give it time and have patience.
Many who start, mindfulness meditation, give up because they can’t quiet their minds, but like I said earlier a technique is to let the thoughts come and go, don’t fight them because the more you resist, the quicker they come back. With practice, you will be meditating like the, Buddhist monks, in no time.
So start your practice of being, mindful. Pay attention to your environment, the sensations in your body and start seeing the benefits.
Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of 5 mins with coach Myrna. I invite you all to join my Facebook group called Lifecoach for daily life coaching tips and strategies to live your best lives now.
As a gardener of your, mind, you have to be vigilant about tending your, mind garden. Imagine your, mind, as a garden. Positive thoughts are the beautiful flowers that brighten your life. Negative thoughts are the ugly weeds that spread and suffocate your happiness, by cutting off sunlight. Just like plants we need sunlight to thrive.
All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” ~Buddha
Negative thoughts can take the form of fear, self-doubt, guilt, anger, blame, insecurity, prophesying or any thought that makes you feel bad!
Garden your, mind, to kill the ANTS, Automatic Negative Thoughts
The mind garden of fear
Fear – defined as false events appearing real, is the number one reason that we don’t achieve success in this life, it grows when we don’t tend our, mind garden. Fear of the unknown, that feeling of uncertainty. Our, minds, spin tales of past events when we failed or of someone we knew who failed. One way to Kill this, automatic negative thought, or weed in our, mind garden, is to imagine what is the worst that could happen.
If you hate your job and are afraid to leave for fear that you would be able to find another job that pays as much or more than you are making now; talk back to this fear and say that you are skilled and you would so get another job. If the worst that could happen is that you run out of money and can’t eat or become homeless; then you plan ahead and either find another job before you quit or acquire the necessary skills to get the job you want. Doing nothing because you are afraid should never be an option. There is also a positive side to this ANT or weed in your, mind garden.
If you are afraid of losing something be it your spouse, your job, your home; it tells you that these things are important to you and that you should do the necessary due diligence to keep them. For example if you fear losing your spouse, then you should work on keeping the marriage fresh, you should keep yourself attractive and don’t let yourself get to 300 lbs and you should serve your spouse and make them feel special.
Self-doubt grows in your mind garden
Lack of confidence is a very powerful, automatic negative thought, or weed that could unchecked in your, mind garden. One of the most essential character traits to have is confidence. It is sexy and it allows you to command attention. When this, automatic negative thoughts, is telling you that you are not good enough, you will not get that promotion because you don’t have a degree for example; talk back and tell it that you are the best person for this job and that it is their loss if they don’t hire you.
Tend to your, mind garden, and pull up this weed. If you don’t, you will never move from where you are today. You will never be an over achiever or the top sales person on a team! You need self-confidence to achieve success.
Guilt is a weed in your mind garden
Guilt, is a result of your conscience in your, mind, telling you that you have violated your own core value. It is telling you that you did something that is moving you away from your predetermined goal. You can pull up this weed from your, mind garden, by telling yourself that you recognize your mistake and that you have forgiven yourself. Don’t let the guilt and shame arrest you and keep your, mind, in bondage.
Anger – Anger ANTS, automatic negative thoughts, keep telling you that someone had no right to do something. The more you think about it, the angrier you get. Psychologists say that anger is like an iceberg, what you see is just the tip but there is more ice for miles below the surface. If you are conscious you have an Anger Management problem, then you should understand (with the help of a Therapist) what is causing your anger. You can pull up this weed from your, mind garden, by telling this , automatic negative thought, that you cannot control what someone else does; the only person you can control is yourself.
Blame – this, automatic negative thought, can be very destructive. When you blame others for the results you are having in your life, you assume the role of the victim. As the victim, you have no power to facilitate change. You pluck this ANT from your, mind garden, by becoming a player. As a player you take back control. Regardless of what the dealer is showing, you can still win! You are not the product of your circumstances. Everybody has a story, it is how you handle adversity and challenges that define and grow you.
Prophesying – the prophesying, automatic negative thought, talks to you about what it knows about the future! It tells you things like “you are never going to close that sale”. “The customer is going to string you along and they will never buy” or “it is never going to work out”. You remove this ANT from your, mind garden, by declaring that you cannot predict the future. You do not have a crystal ball!
Automatic negative thoughts are the weeds in your mind garden
My, Automatic Negative Thoughts, generally take the form of conversations. These ANTS usually starts crawling when I get a trigger. You know what happens when you step on an Ants nest? The Ants all run out at the same and start attacking, they bite!
Tony Robbins teaches about anchors and how to replace the negative ones with positive ones. If you have this problem you should check out his book “The Power Within“. The way I handle these, automatic negative thoughts, is by shaking my head when I become conscious that they are crawling around. I physically shake my head like I am trying to shake them off me, then I bring my attention to my breathing for a few minutes. If they come back again and they usually do, I download them in my journal and that usually takes care of the problem for me and frees my, mind. This is how I tend my, mind garden.
I tend the Garden of my mind by becoming Conscious of the thoughts that make me feel bad!
Positive thoughts on the other hand are like flowers, they beautify your gardens and bring smiles to anyone who stops and pays attention to their beauty; in a similar way positive thoughts make you beautiful to anyone who you have interpersonal relations with. But the beauty of positive thoughts is that they make you feel good. It is not only sex that makes you feel good!
Tending to the garden of your, mind, is an ongoing process.
I’ve seen firsthand how dangerous it is to let the weeds of negative thinking take over your, mind, and just like in your natural garden the weeds thrive more than the flowers or plants. In a similar way when you allow the, automatic negative thoughts, to run free in your head; they snuff all the joy out of your life. All you see is darkness, because they are blocking the sunlight from getting in! Let’s look at a garden metaphor to bring an awareness of what happens when weeds take over a garden. Left alone the weeds flourish, creating a dark, tangled mess.
Is your, mind garden, full of weeds?
This morning I stepped outside and noticed one of the largest weeds I have ever seen. I didn’t notice it before because it looked like a tree. It had a trunk, and was taller than the other flowers. I thought to myself; how on earth could a weed grow so strong and big? The answer is simple: their purpose is to take the nutrients from the plants, so they get big when your plants become weak and die.
So it is too with your, mind: An unattended, mind, can create havoc for you because your, mind, is amazingly receptive to whatever suggestions may be dropped into it. It has been said that the subconscious mind cannot take a joke. This simply means that whatever belief is introduced to it, it takes seriously as an instruction to grow that thought-seed into a full-blown plant–be it a rose or a weed, and it can’t tell the difference.
How to plant positive seeds in your, mind garden
When you stop and consider how many thought-seeds are purposefully planted in your, mind garden, on a daily basis, it may cause you to tend to your mental garden with a bit more regularity. This is in addition to all the seeds that were planted in your mind unconsciously. As you listen to the radio, watch TV or even sit in a restaurant where others are talking, your mind hears it ALL, irrespective of whether you are conscious of it or not. Given what’s going on in our world today with all of the talk that comes from fear and anger, this is a vital point to grasp. Even when you engage in gossip or negative conversation with or about others, your subconscious mind hears it all. Be careful of the seeds you let in.
A, mind, expanded with an implanted thought cannot be returned back to its original form. Leonardo DiCaprio starred in this complicated movie called “inception”, the implantation of another person’s idea into a target’s subconscious.[Hollywood understands this concept. The only way to avoid this type of mind pollution is to be consciously focused on positive activities and limit news and gossip.
There are some companies that have a zero tolerance for gossip. They treat it like a cancer and remove the gossiper immediately.
The action you and I need to take is clear isn’t it? It has been proven that the human mind thinks thousands of thoughts a day. Instead of planting a mixed bag of thousands of various seeds, from fearful to simply confused and unfocused thought-seeds, which will require a full time gardener to pull up the weeds, why not specialize in planting one or two types of seed? Plant thought-seeds about yourself and others that are rooted in reverence and loving-kindness.
Plant seeds that focus on God’s Presence at the center and circumference of all you say think and do, at work, home, or play.
Be mindful…be skillful in the seeds you plant and how you nurture them. Your life is your garden; keep the weeds out because that is one way in which you can personally beautify our world. You owe that much to yourself and to those who receive the benefit of the seeds you plant along the way.
I was sitting around telling myself I’m sick all the time. I’m concentrating on the pain so I started practicing, self love. I started loving the parts of my body that didn’t hurt , like my hands. I start really paying attention to my thoughts, how I’m speaking to myself, and within three weeks the pain was gone. It is important to, love yourself.

Love yourself for healing
Jenny: I was sitting around telling myself I’m sick all the time. I’m concentrating on the pain so I started practicing, self love. I started loving the parts of my body that didn’t hurt , like my hands. I start really paying attention to my thoughts, how I’m speaking to myself, and within three weeks the pain was gone. It is important to, love yourself.
Myrna: What was your chronic illness was?
Jenny: My first diagnosis was chronic mono. Mononucleosis sometimes leads to a serious condition called chronic EBV infection. In chronic EBV infection, you have long-lasting symptoms and a viral infection that lasts longer than usual after your original mononucleosis diagnosis.
Then they found the Epstein Barr Virus in my blood, then it was fibromyalgia. Then it was a genetic blood disorder, which made me more prone to blood clots. I manifested a blood clot within three weeks of them telling of this diagnosis and ended up in the hospital for a week. And the last was Ehlers Danlos, which was the most serious because that was what that made them say I’d wind up in a wheelchair.

Myrna: So you had four things going on with you. Wow.
Jenny: Four things and you keep going I got to keep getting diagnoses.
Myrna: And I know that, Fibromyalgia, which is the only one I recognize from that is very painful, isn’t it?
Healing Fibromyalgia with self love
Jenny: Fibromyalgia, was very painful and it was focused on my leg. It feels like you have the flu, you are just really out of it. You don’t know what you’ll be able to do that day; If you can get out of bed. There were times when I was crawling downstairs wondering if it was safe for me to drive my kids. You have got to, love yourself, to push past the discomfort and start healing my body.
It was disempowering. I joined support groups, but those were a little disempowering, too because it wasn’t about how will we cope with this illness? It became like almost a one upping, everyone sharing their sad stories, my husband left me because I’m sick. Well, you know, it wasn’t inspiring at all.
So, in really focusing on my mind, and my limiting thoughts about, self love, I fostered my Mind, Body, and Spirit connection. Deepak Chopra is so great at teaching about that. Wayne Dyer with intention, really focusing on my mind, because we’re on automatic pilots so much of the time. When I started to focus on, self love, I was appalled at the things I was saying to myself.
Myrna: So what exactly did you do?
Attention Shifting for deep healing
Jenny: I started with some forgiveness work. Then I went to the, attention shifting, really paying attention to my fingers that didn’t hurt, because my legs were in pain and a lot of my other body parts were in pain so I started focusing my energy on the body parts that were healthy. Then gratitude work and, self love. Grateful for my comfy bed. I would be in gratitude that I could read to my kids even if I couldn’t run.
Myrna: You love Deepak Chopra, one of the things I learned from him was this affirmation:
“Every day in every way, I’m getting better and better. My Biostat is set at a healthy 45 years of age. I look and feel 45 years old.” And then you go through about 10 things that you’re getting better and better at you know: So I understand you saying every day that you are getting better and better!
Jenny: Yeah, I’m saying yeah, every day I’m working on my healing every day. I’m getting a little better every day. Yeah, I mean, giving myself that credit to for the work that I am doing, you know I am watching videos, I am listening, I am focusing my attention. Just really be mindful and conscious of the way I was talking to myself and where I was putting my energy.
I mean, we know this all boils down to, energy, our thoughts and emotions, creates our, energy. So, that was one of the big lesson I took away from the secret, that one line! Every 11 months were 99.9% new so where are we putting our intention?

The body regenerates every 11 months
Myrna: True every 11 months, you’re a new person. But yeah, so that’s actually pretty good, because if you’re seeing your healing, what you’re seeing is your body is regenerating itself. So, you concentrate on, mindfulness, you concentrate on, gratitude and you practice, self love. You concentrate on your mantras and forgiving yourself. And you said in three weeks, you were you were out of pain, right? So what do you attribute that to? Do you attribute that to to the fact that you are no longer concentrating on the pain?
Jenny: I changed my, energy. The, energy, flowing through me was creating healthier cells. When I was focusing on my legs and how my legs were in pain, wondering if I could walk today; I really wasn’t giving my body an opportunity to create those healthy cells. I was expecting pain and that is what I got.
Myrna: Yeah, one of the things that I learned from that is that when your, chakras, are blocked that’s when disease come through. So when you talk about changing the, energy, and changing the flow I understand.
Jenny: Absolutely, once I started reading about, chakras, (Caroline Myss) was a huge influence) they resonated so deeply.
Myrna: Let’s talk about how to , love yourself. You talked about, self-love, in your Bio. What are some of the, self-love affirmations, and, self-worth, practices that you teach your clients to declare and own their value?
Jenny: Well, it’s so important first of all, to have, self-love, and self-worth. Because if we are thinking we’re not worthy and we don’t love ourselves, we attract the relationships that reflect that, we attract negative situations. We’re vibrating at that energy to attract those unhealthy relationships over and over. It can be like Groundhog Day, different person, same relationship, you know, so it is really important to, love yourself, and have, self worth.
Now on all streaming platforms such as Spotify, apple music, amazon and Pandora.
is a beautiful original song called FAME by James Zada.
The opening track comes from the same titled album FAME and is about the singer George Michael.
If you love 80s 90s music but with a fresh modern twist then you’ll love the music of James Zada.
You can find out more at his website at www.jameszada.com
Jenny: And I do think, forgiveness, is a great one. At the, soul, level we know we should love ourselves unconditionally. Unfortunately, there’s a long distance between the, soul, and the, mind. When we’re just in our groove, that negative self talk is limited.
The limited way we see ourselves maybe from a relationship we had or from our parents or from a job. There’s so many different ways that we can get those messages and we tend to hang on to the negative messages we’ve received, a lot tighter than the positive ones. So it really is about reclaiming that, self love.
I love the morning and night, because that is when our, subconscious mind, is tuned in. I love the shower in the morning to practice, mindfulness. We are never mindful in the shower. We’re never really there. And it’s such a powerful time, we’re receiving the water element, and we are usually were left alone in the shower.
Practicing mindfulness in the shower
Myrna: So, what exercises can you do in the shower that you can bring in gratitude and, mindfulness?
Jenny: There are so many different things that we can do that make that our, self love meditation, time worth it. Most people do shower in the morning. I also love the idea of holding our hands over our hearts and taking some deep breaths and bringing in one of our favorite moments. We have we’re so programmed to replay the worst moments so this is a time to consciously bring in the good times.
Bring in the memory i.e of a loved one cuddling with a pet, maybe the memory of a beautiful vacation that you went on, bring in all the senses, affirm to the world that everything’s okay. Because a lot of times we are affirming that things aren’t okay.
So, really choosing to be mindful, choosing to listen to the stories you’re telling yourself. Do you do something and then say, Oh, I’m so stupid. Well, you know, correct that, catch yourself and say that you’re not stupid.
Meditation and self love is the best form of healing
Myrna: I like that. I like that. I like the shower idea too. I do, energy, work. So I meditate, I also walk in the park every morning and, when I’m going to bed I’m also you know doing, energy work. So I’m in the space, but I never actually heard anybody talk about practicing, mindfulness, in the shower. I know that a lot of people are not, conscious, in the shower, and I’m one of them. It’s just one of those things where you’re never actually there. So practicing to be mindful in the shower is profound.
Now, one of the things you talk about is how we can access our body’s inner diagnostic system for, deep healing. How we can tap into our body inner diagnostic system, so that we can heal ourselves?
Chakras and healing energy
Jenny: I consider the, chakras, our inner diagnostic system. Connecting to those different, chakras, really can heal us. I also think it’s so important to pay gratitude for our body. We have this complex system, going on all the time, we just expect them to work and usually we don’t pay attention to them until they start giving us some trouble.
Myrna: Can you explain what, chakras, are?
Jenny: The, chakras, are energetic wheels of, energy, that are in our body? We have seven major ones. We have hundreds in our body, but we have seven major ones. And they’re the colors of the rainbow, they run from the bottom of our lower back to our top of our head and each, chakra, holds a different, energy.
Give you an example the, Root Chakra, at the base of our spine. That’s really about the messages we got from our parents from when we came into this world and it makes sense that that includes like our safety. Do we feel safe on this planet walking on this planet, it affects our legs and affects our feet. So as we go as we inform ourselves about each, chakra, we really can it kind of makes sense.
Using the heart chakra for self love
Jenny: The, heart chakra, is at the heart and it is about our relationships or, self love. Are we open to receiving love for ourselves? And it makes sense that our chest and our lungs and our heart can be affected by the balance.
So really, when we know the part of us that’s not feeling well, we can go to that, chakra, and find out, what is out of balance. If you’re having like, something is hard to digest, your, solar plexus chakra role, will start acting up, which is your third, chakra. Each of the, chakras, has its own emotional and physical component and it’s so powerful to learn about them. You can download a free chart online to find out which, chakra, controls what.
Myrna: It’s really, powerful to learn because our body is always speaking to us. And those little pains aren’t to punish us. They are to tell us that something’s out of balance. And if we catch it early, we can prevent things from getting really bad. I love that you’ve talked to your body, you know we can tell our body what we would like it to do for us.
Jenny: Our, energy, goes through the pain and focusing on the pain or taking away the pain on a superficial level like popping a pill doesn’t allow, deep healing. You’re not looking at why do I have this headache? Did something stress me out today? When you really, love yourself, you investigate.
Using the Chakras to investigate pain
Pain represents blocked energy. A lot of women that I’ve coached have issues with their, throat chakra. So, if you have issues with your throat or your voice, ask yourself, am I speaking my truth? Does it feel safe for you to speak your truth? Are you living authentically?
Myrna: That’s pretty good. Yeah, I know about the, chakras, and I do a lot of Chakra meditation to clear my, chakras but, I never thought of them as my, inner diagnostic, system.
I just concentrated on the fact that if you have disease in your body, that means your, chakras, are blocked. Right, and you clear it, but going backwards to say, Well, yeah, you know, if you’re having problems with your legs or something or you’re having, you know, stomach issues. It could be because of something that came in the, energy, that got stuck there.
That’s best, inner diagnosis. And then obviously, once you’ve diagnosed it, then you could not only heal yourself, but you can also heal your mind.
Jenny: Right, yeah, absolutely. I mean, our mind is so with energetic healing, we know that things can disappear in an instant. But if our mind doesn’t change, we also manifest those things all over again. So it is really important to have that mind and a consciousness around it as well.
